Partner at Vino Capital Partners
June 2010While only several years old, Vino Capital Partners sources amazing syrah from a number of stellar vineyards, such as: * White Hawk Vineyard (Santa Barbara County) * Garys' Vineyard (Santa Lucia Highlands AVA) * Zio Tony Ranch/Martinelli (Sonoma County) * Thompson Vineyard (Santa Barbara County) * Larner Vineyard (Ballard Canyon AVA) The initial focus of VCP is to create a "World-Class" Syrah Cuvee. I am expecting great things from the combination of a "no expense spared -- no corners cut" mentality and detailed wine making protocol (established in conjunction with consulting winemaker Jeff Cohn of JC Cellars). 2011 was VCP's first vintage, wherein 10 tons of Syrah was sourced. In 2012, 22 tons of Syrah was sourced as well as a little bit of White Hawk Viognier . For the 2013 vintage (and beyond), VCP is looking to increase its Syrah production and branch-out with a few more varietals (including Sonoma Pinot Noir farmed by Ulisses Valdez, Oakville Cabernet and Mourvedre from the Chalone apellation).
